How to Properly Clean your Acrylic Sneeze Guards

While Acrylic is incredibly versatile, cleaning it with the incorrect type of cleaning agent can immediately ruin it.
While cast Acrylic is non-porous, areas near cut edges can actually dry out. If this happens, the sneeze guard edges can result in immediate cracking of your acrylic.
The biggest cleaning agent enemy for drying your acrylic out is alcohol. Applying any type of cleaner on your acrylic that contains alcohol can crack the edges of your acrylic. DO NOT, under any circumstance use a cleaning agent that contains alcohol.
Another enemy of acrylic are ammonia based products, such as Windex. These products have a high likelihood of leaving your clear acrylic with a foggy or smokiness.
The best way to clean acrylic is to first blow off any dust or debris. Doing this first will prevent you from scratching the acrylic when you take a soft cloth to clean the surface. Once it is free from any particles, use warm water and dish soap. Make sure to use a soft cotton cloth as any type of abrasive cloth material can very easily scratch your sneeze guard or desk divider.
Use a damp, micro fiber, clean cloth to remove the soap from the acrylic and finally, use a dry micro fiber soft cloth to dry the sneeze guard and remove any streaks. DO NOT use paper towel. In doing so, you’ll have a good chance of scratching the acrylic.
